They must be Awami Jongies!

BNP leaders are brilliant indeed! They have the best collective political brain in the whole universe. You would not find such unequalled specimens of grey matter on any of the planets! The BNP has shrunk to the size of a club of some old people who pass their time reminiscing on their "terrific", (read terrible) rule from 2001 to 2006), sniff foul smell in the whole jongi (militant) affair in the country.

The senior leaders of the party keep saying that they do not believe in this jongi thing. They sense a mystery in the way the militants' dens are being identified one after another and the way they are getting killed in encounters with law enforcers. They have come to the conclusion that this whole act of militants suddenly popping up at different locations of the country is the doing of the government. It is a part of a ploy to put the blame on the BNP. They say the government is using the recent story of militancy 'to gain political mileage; they are capitalising on it.' "The government's stance on militant attacks is baffling. It does not want a solution; rather it is using militancy as a tool for political mileage." Mind-boggling analysis no doubt! Why do they think the government's stance on militancy is mysterious or baffling? Are those Awami jongis? Were they sent by the AL high command to kill and get killed? What political mileage would the AL achieve from this?

In support of their brilliant rajneeti they are questioning why the militants are not being captured alive so that we could learn more about them and their operations! A serious assertion, no doubt. But wait, when those totally brainwashed people are blowing themselves up along with their own children to avoid getting captured, the BNP wants the law enforcers to go inside their dens and negotiate! This is hilarious!

It does not come as a surprise to us that BNP leaders prefer to remain cool and composed while the entire nation remains tensed and worried when well-armed militants throw challenges at the law enforcers from their hideouts. They display no emotion nor do they have any word of sympathy for the police officers, RAB and army officers and the common people who get killed in the hands of the militants. On the other hand, they seem to have all the concerns for the militants! In pursuance of their convoluted rajneeti all of them keep saying the same thing over and over again! None dares to say a line beyond the script. Brilliant!

BNP leaders continue to assert that the Awami League is involved in the whole militancy affair and it is doing it only to tarnish the good name of the BNP club. Well, it is their patent stance. During their last stint in power their extremely brilliant state minister for home affairs had 'found' a Hindu Islamic militant in a district town! He had proudly announced before the media that a Hindu boy had been arrested along with some suspected militants and that the boy would be interrogated to get to the bottom of the story. Sherlock Homes of the 21st century! We miss this man.

The BNP has been talking about holding an all-party meeting to address militancy. It has been trying to convey the message that such a meeting would help end the crisis. But how? Does the BNP have valuable information to share? Why does it not share it now to save human lives? How did it come across valuable information, if it has any, on such extremely dangerous outfits? The mystery begins here.

Dear BNP club members, there are issues that cannot be viewed through a political prism. National crises affect the common masses and not only some political parties. Hence it would be courteous and gracious not to do politics with issues that bring death and despondency to the people. Let us rise above pettiness when we take a pledge to bring happiness in the lives of the less fortunate in our society.
