Well said Mahrukh. Too many people of the younger generation think that the patriotism is limited to openly declaring hatred for all Pakistanis and in the context of cricket! Patriotism has become very shallow and symbolic. Wearing the right colours on the right day, putting up the right status update, etc. Most people can't wait to leave the country and once gone, rarely come back to do anything positive for their country.

To them, Bangladesh becomes the place to come back every couple of years for a month to enjoy the "aram" of having a maid do everything for them. And those who have stayed on in the country often loathe to work anywhere except MNCs: working for Bangladeshi organisations is considered a step down in the social ladder.

Leaders are readers. Our student politics, in general of all parties as I have observed in my experience, and similar in the whole sub-continent, seems to be busy fighting for leadership without reading and understanding history etc. but by conspiracy and might.

And, why not, since the leaders in power patronise it who themselves are not qualified and they know it that they don't know much and don't have the time to do so. Same is applicable in the rise of the religious fanatics who brainwash innocent young minds into committing crimes against humanity.

We must learn to accept our mistakes and admit our guilt, but instead the trend remains to commit more mistakes and crimes to cover up the ones already committed and blame others.
