Samsung has announced they will unveil their Galaxy S7 series of flagship smartphones this month on Sunday 21 February during their "Unpacked" launch in Barcelona, Spain.

Android Central reports that this unveiling comes a day before the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which will be held from February 22 to February 25.

Samsung is expected to unveil both the regular Galaxy S7 and the curved S7 Edge models to succeed the Galaxy S6 line, as strong contenders to Apple's iPhone 6S, which launched in September 2015.

Samsung's current generation S6 smartphone models were launched to critical praise by the technology press, and featured a departure from their initially plastic industrial designs to the use of metal and glass.

Eager techies won't have to wait the whole month as a purportedly leaked image on Twitter from Evan Blass (@evleaks) of VentureBeat provides an overall indication of the new design we can possibly expect from Samsung.

The leaked designs feature more rounded edges in comparison to the S6 and a more prominent front-facing camera, with the Edge's screen size being larger than of the regular S7.
